Shapes for Scribus

In Scribus, shapes can be used for many purposes: for example as image frames, or as a basis for complex borders.

Scribus offers some tools for creating shapes. But for more complex shapes, it is better to use a specialized program: a vector drawing program, for example Inkscape. These drawings, saved as SVG files, can be imported into Scribus via "File / Import / SVG File".

We want to collect some shapes. If this succeeds, we can build a scrapbook file with these shapes for distributing them with Scribus.

When creating shapes for Scribus, please consider some constrictions:

  • A shape should consist of just one, closed path
  • It should be not filled with any color

Here are two simple examples, a heart and a candle. Please feel free to upload your shapes!

  • Please note that 3D objects in OO.o look terrible when printed. We now have new gradient types and mesh gradients in 1.5svn, and Render Frames are pre-configured to render POV-Ray. So 3D objects should be of the lowest priority.
