Please note that if you are considering using this version, it is known to be unstable at this time. Compounding this is the fact that the file format for 1.3.4 is incompatible with previous (1.3.3.x and older) versions, so if you save a file with 1.3.4, you will not be able to open it up with earlier Scribus versions.Version 1.3.4 introduces a huge number of advancements and enhancements, among them a new splash screen, created by Andy Fitzsimon:

The splash screen is an indicator of other visual changes in Scribus. The most obvious one is the new icon set provided by the Tango project:
[edit] More Preview Features
Speaking of visibility: The preview features have seen lots of improvements. Below a comparison between the View menu in 1.3.3.x and 1.3.4. It's now possible to fit a document horizontally or vertically into the document window.

Scribus also offers a new preview mode. Choosing View > Preview Mode or clicking the new "eye" button in the status bar makes all control elements like frames, margins, guides etc. invisible:

Another innovative preview feature is the simulation of colour blindness. Designers can now test how their work is perceived by achromates:

The use of layers in a layout has become easier as well, due to enhanced preview modes. First, items on different layers can now be indicated by configurable layer marks (left column). It's also possible to reduce vector items to simple outlines. This can facilitate the editing of layouts and speed up the design process (right column):

A small, but very convenient enhancement has been made to the Arrange Pages dialog. As of version 1.3.4, Scribus indicates the currently selected page, which can be very helpful in long documents:
