Introduction
The following beginner's tutorial on publication design is based on Get Started With Scribus by Niyam Bhushan which has been published in April 2004. In July 2006, a bunch of experienced Scribus users and Scribus Wiki authors (contributors, as we call ourselves) decided to refurbish and extend the old tutorial, and keep it up to date with the current development of Scribus. While we intend to keep to the original spirit of Niyam's tutorial, this work isn't going to be its mere continuation, but will finally go its own way regarding contents and concepts.
The original files (dated 2004) may be downloaded from linux-delhi.org:
- Get Started With Scribus – the original tutorial as OpenOffice and PDF files
- [FreedomYug] – a sample magazine designed in Scribus 1.16
- [Screen shots] – screen shots used to create the original tutorial
