My rationale for including it here: it was a pain to located a compiled ghostscript download, and then configuring scribus to find it took a few extra steps. If we want to make Scribus as accessible as possible, lets put this all here! I'll wait a week or so before just posting the info. Thanks, [[User:Jwlyon1|Jwlyon1]] 02:48, 19 January 2009 (CET)

Here's what I wanted to add:
1. Ghostscript is a required component for Scribus. If it comes up in an error message when the program starts, it should be mentioned ahead of time!
2. Link to here for .dmg installer of Ghostscript: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/foomatic
3. Instructions for setting preferences to find Ghostscript: Open scribus and go to menu Scribus->preferences. In prefs, scroll down to 'External Tools'  and click it. In the box  'Postscript Interpreter', field 'Name of Executable', type /usr/local/bin/gs

Two questions:

- Why isn't Ghostscript mentioned here?
- If it can be mentioned, can we post or at least link to installation instructions?

My rationale for including it here: it was a pain to located a compiled ghostscript download, and then configuring scribus to find it took a few extra steps. If we want to make Scribus as accessible as possible, lets put this all here! I'll wait a week or so before just posting the info. Here's what I wanted to add: 1. Ghostscript is a required component for Scribus. If it comes up in an error message when the program starts, it should be mentioned ahead of time! 2. Link to here for .dmg installer of Ghostscript: http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/foomatic 3. Instructions for setting preferences to find Ghostscript: Open scribus and go to menu Scribus->preferences. In prefs, scroll down to 'External Tools' and click it. In the box 'Postscript Interpreter', field 'Name of Executable', type /usr/local/bin/gs
