Introduction

QR codes are on the way to become an integral part of print products. Thus, it should be considered to allow users the generation of QR graphics from within Scribus.

Available Code/Libraries

  • The code we currently use for PostScript-based barcode generation, Terry Burton's Barcode Writer in Pure PostScript supports QR codes, as well as many other graphical codes. According to Subik, we only need someone who's willing to write a graphical front-end.

Discussion

  • Using the PostScript-based solution would guarantee crisp printing results.
  • avox had the idea (on IRC) to use Quricol in connection with Render Frames.
